Poster – Targeted Delivery into the Nucleus of Live Cells - Using MB231 cell line and KI67 Antibody

Abstract: Digitonin, a glycoside that is frequently used as a detergent, was used to create temporary pores in the nucleus of MB231. This allowed the antibody Ki-67 to enter the nucleus, where it bound to the Ki-67 marker protein . Previously, poration of the nucleus to allow antibodies to enter the nucleus required cell fixation, thereby killing the cells. This procedure allows live cells to be studied with target antibodies delivered to the nucleus.

Presentation – Synthesis, Capping, Characterization, and Functionalization of AuNP

Abstract: Functionalizing gold nanoparticles with chemical groups and biological molecules increases stability and allows for their utilization in various biotechnology fields. Using a biological molecule to functionalize them has the potential to open up a wide array of biomedical applications.

Presentation – Senior Thesis: Efficacy of EGCG as a Neuroprotective Agent

Abstract: The neuroprotective effect of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) was investigated using an insecticide(rotenone)-induced Parkinson’s model in Drosophila. EGCG was shown to have a positive effect on the performance of the flies when challenged with lower concentrations of rotenone, as assessed using a climbing assay. However, higher concentrations of rotenone showed an increase in performance.
